Manuscript Process

 

Authors must submit manuscripts via the journal’s official submission portal. The process is as follows:

  1. Initial Screening for scope, formatting, and plagiarism.
  2. Peer Review using a double-blind method with at least two independent reviewers.
  3. Revision Stage where authors respond to reviewers’ comments.
  4. Final Decision by the editorial board.
  5. Copyediting and Typesetting post-acceptance.
  6. Proof Approval by the author before publication.

 

All correspondence is conducted through the official submission system or via email at support@afea-jad.com.

Article Structure Guidelines

 

Manuscripts should follow this general structure:

  • Title Page: Title, author names, affiliations, corresponding author details.
  • Abstract: 150–300 words.
  • Keywords: 4–6 relevant terms.
  • Introduction: Purpose and background of the study.
  • Methodology: Detailed explanation of research design and tools.
  • Results: Present key findings with figures/tables.
  • Discussion: Interpret results in context.
  • Conclusion: Summary and future recommendations.
  • References: In APA or MLA style (depending on discipline).
  • Supplementary Material (if applicable).

Image Manipulation

 

Image manipulation is strictly prohibited. Any adjustments must:

  • Be applied uniformly across the entire image.
  • Not misrepresent or enhance findings.
  • Be declared in the methods section.

 

Any suspected manipulation will result in desk rejection or retraction.

Human Subjects Research Guidelines

 

All research involving human participants must comply with international ethical standards, such as the Declaration of Helsinki.

  • Informed consent must be obtained and documented.
  • Confidentiality must be maintained.
  • Ethical approval must be clearly mentioned in the manuscript.

Animal Research Ethics Requirements

 

Animal research must follow institutional and national guidelines for ethical conduct, such as ARRIVE guidelines.

  • Approval from a recognized Animal Ethics Committee is mandatory.
  • Detailed animal care procedures must be included in the Methods section.
  • Pain, suffering, and humane endpoints must be addressed.

 Ethics Committee Approval Process

 

All studies involving humans or animals must be approved by an institutional review board or ethics committee.

  • Approval number and name of the approving body must be mentioned.
  • If exempt, a statement of exemption must be provided.

 

Failure to provide ethics approval will lead to automatic rejection.

Clinical Trial Registration Requirements

 

Clinical trials must be registered in a recognized registry such as:

  • gov
  • WHO International Clinical Trials Registry Platform (ICTRP)

 

Authors must provide a trial registration number and ensure that trial information is consistent with the manuscript.

Guidelines for Human Phenotype–Genotype Association Studies

 

Studies involving human genetic information must adhere to:

  • Ethical approval for genetic data use
  • Clear consent for genetic analysis
  • Reporting standards like STREGA (Strengthening the Reporting of Genetic Association Studies)

 

All associated data must be anonymized and reproducible.

Guidelines for Proteins and Nucleic Acid Sequences

 

For studies involving molecular sequences:

  • All novel sequences must be submitted to a public database (e.g., GenBank) and accession numbers provided.
  • Ensure correct nomenclature and annotation.
  • Describe methods for sequence analysis in detail.

Plagiarism Detection and Handling Process

 

All manuscripts undergo plagiarism screening using software like Turnitin or iThenticate.

  • Submissions with >15% unreferenced overlap will be desk rejected.
  • Self-plagiarism must be avoided.
  • Authors caught plagiarizing will face permanent blacklisting and institutional notification.

Availability of Data and Materials

 

Authors must include a Data Availability Statement outlining where supporting data can be accessed. Acceptable formats:

  • Public repository link (e.g., Dryad, Zenodo)
  • Upon reasonable request to the corresponding author
  • Included as supplementary files

Authorship and Contributorship

 

Each listed author must meet the following criteria:

  • Substantial contributions to conception/design/data analysis
  • Drafting or critically revising the manuscript
  • Final approval of the published version

 

Use of CRediT taxonomy for contributorship is encouraged. Changes to authorship after submission must be justified and approved by all authors.

Enhanced Statistical Reporting Guidelines

 

All statistical methods must be:

  • Clearly explained with justification for test selection.
  • Reported with confidence intervals and p-values.
  • Accompanied by assumptions and data transformations if applicable.

 

For clinical or epidemiological studies, follow guidelines like CONSORT or STROBE.

Conflict of Interest

Authors, editors, and reviewers must disclose:

  • Financial relationships (grants, consultancies, stock ownership)
  • Non-financial interests (personal or professional affiliations)

 

A Conflict of Interest Statement must be included at the end of the manuscript.

Accepted Manuscript Process

 

Once accepted:

  1. The manuscript undergoes copyediting and layout formatting.
  2. Authors receive PDF proofs to review and approve.
  3. Final version is published online with DOI assignment.
  4. Articles are indexed and archived.

 

The typical timeframe from acceptance to publication is 2–4 weeks.

Article Processing Charges (APC)

 

To support open access publishing, JAD charges an Article Processing Charge (APC) of 300 USD per accepted manuscript.

  • There are no submission or peer review fees.
  • Waiver requests may be considered for authors from low-income countries.

Timeline

  • Initial Screening: 3–5 business days
  • Peer Review: 4–6 weeks
  • Revision & Resubmission: 1–2 weeks (author dependent)
  • Final Decision: 1 week after revisions
  • Production & Publication: 2–4 weeks post-acceptance

 

The total turnaround time is approximately 8–12 weeks from submission to publication.
