Reviewers play a critical role in maintaining the quality of content published in the Journal of African Development. Reviewers are expected to:
Evaluate manuscripts based on academic merit, originality, methodology, and contribution to African development discourse.
Provide objective, constructive, and timely feedback.
Maintain confidentiality and not disclose any part of the manuscript or their reviews.
Declare any potential conflicts of interest.
Manuscripts under review are confidential documents. Reviewers must not share, discuss, or use the content for personal or professional gain.
Reviewers are requested to complete reviews within 21–28 days. If additional time is required, they should inform the editorial office promptly.
Reviewers must:
Avoid personal criticism and maintain a respectful tone.
Report any suspected plagiarism, data fabrication, or ethical concerns to the editorial team.
Suggest improvements and references fairly and without coercion.
JAD appreciates the voluntary contributions of its reviewers and may:
Issue reviewer certificates upon request.
Publish an annual list of contributing reviewers (optional).
Invite outstanding reviewers to the editorial board.
